I finally received my Spdercards(6 total) today. They are going to be used as "thank you" gifts for the men in my Grooms party for my upcoming wedding. One of those was for myself so I tried it at work!!! They are truly money well spent. Sharp, durable, and it fits in the wallet too!!

Congratulations Sal!!!! You have another winner!!!!

They are beautiful!!!

I just got a plain edge Spydercard this week and it is very nice.
I carry it in my wallet.
My only complaint is that it feels too heavy.
Could it be made lighter with some other metal?

RGRAY - We can make it lighter with titanium handle, but the costs go up considerably. A Titanium blade drives up the cost even more. I don't think many will pay $100 plus for this design.

We are playing with some other designs...but how many "Credit Card Knives" are too many?

Thanks Sal.

What does the Spydercard weigh now and any idea what a titanium Spydercard would weigh?

I can't wait to get a stainless steel plain edge Native II.

RGRAY - Spydercard weighs 3.1 oz (88 gms).

An all titanium version might weigh half as much and be 3 times the cost.

How about G-10 Handle with SS/Ti Liner Spacer

I think this will make it even lighter then Ti Handle

Sal,

would manufacturing the Spydercard with a frame lock, not a liner lock be a possibility. That way, one side of the card can be done away with.

Because of the weight of the SPydercard, I dont keep mine in my wallet but just in my pants pockets. What I love about it is like all SPydercos, I can open it with one hand.

My only gripe is that the surface is easy to scratch, so I was thinking of polishing it with my Dremel.

Ken - We're playing with a similar concept.

Jonny - this would make it pretty thick to go into a wallet.

Hey, welcome to the Spyderco Groomsmans' Gifts Club! I gave all my groomsmen Calypso Jr.s. Two years later and the guys still rave about them -- including the guy who wasn't into knives and couldn't figure out why someone would carry a folder. Beware, they also still return them to me periodically for sharpening, apparently under the impression that they came with the Lifetime TalmadgeSharp Warantee

I'm about to pick up a Spydercard without having handled one, based on all the good reviews.

Sal,

Titanium framelock Spydercard @ 100$ : count me in !
What would be more expensive : carbon fiber (if feasable) or titanium frame for the spydercard ?
To loose some weight maybe the blade and/or the frame can be skeletonized (like the Q or to a lesser extent) ?

Philip

Phillip357 - Thanx for the support, but I think I'll watch the current card for a while before moving forward in that area.

We've got a lot of new designs that we've yet to introduce.

Carbon fiber is light and strong, but makes a lousy lock. A mechanically sound material would have to be added.

One of the nice advantages of the Spyder
Card is the football field size area to engrave on. We believe that businesses will find this a nice premium with their logo and/or message added.

We now have a lazer engraver in-house and can put anything on the handle.

I just got the Kydex neck rigs, made by Normark's "On Scene Tactical". They fit great and look great around the neck. Now the Spydercard is a neck knife!!!

Well Sal - it looks like we are back to the 100$ light spydercard...

You know you can count me in for that - and be sure to include a gold colored version - so it will REALLY look like a credit card...

If only Eduardo could be here and see all this.

We miss him.

Folks, I got mine last week. Its solid but the bead-blasted steel stains easily. A guy whom I showed the blade to actually dropped it tip-down and I had a busted edge. Tough luck really! I love the spydercard for its simplicity and functionality. The only thing that is my wallet heavier is the weight.
