Anyone else pick up a PITS?

Been carrying mine a few days.. wasn’t sure whether I was going to like it but gave it a shot.

The titanium has a nice smooth texture to it, which is nice. Lots of tension on the lockbar, little concern this would ever close on my fingers. I’ve always been a slipjoint fan, but like the practicality of pocket clips. The wire clip is a great addition. Very ergonomic! Feels like a knife you can do some serious work with. I’d classify this as “moderate use” on the light to heavy spectrum. Sort of feels like a slimmer mini Adamas to me. If you’re on the fence, I say “go for it”.

So pros and cons:

Pros:
-Very ergonomic
-Solid tension on lockbar
-Well built, solid construction
-Easily pocketed (smooth scales and nice wire clip)
-The holes (reminds me of Mayo designs, Mayo look without Mayo price!)

Cons:
-Closing (will pinch your forefinger in the lockbar if you mash the meat of your finger near the axis on opening)
-Lack of any jimping
-Cost (this knife ain’t cheap, but it is a solid construction titanium knife)

The local shop has them and I’ve handled them multiple times since they got them. For the most part I agree with your assessment but I don’t consider not having jimping a “con” on this knife. I think jimping would be a bit out of place and it fits my hand well enough that I’m not worried about grip but, I realize that’s a personal preference. I almost bought one today but I do feel like they are overpriced by about $50 in today’s knife market. At some point I’ll probably end up with one. I hold one every time I’m at the shop which generally spells doom for my play money.

Thanks for the review. I have a strong feeling that a little while after these are discontinued they are going to be extremely popular on the secondary market. One of those knives where tons of people wish they bought it when they could.

I picked it up, and agree with most of your assessments. I'm okay with no jimping. Reminds me a little bit of the nirk tighe.

I think it's a neat design, but not executed very well.

The price tag definitely gave me stovepipe and slysz bowie vibes. I honestly have no idea why these are so expensive.

I'd say if you're on the fence, don't pie it. I will be selling mine for 999$ :)

Agreed…it’s an interesting knife that nobody NEEDS until it’s being flipped at twice the initial cost. lol

It's funny how that happens isn't it? Humans are strange creatures. There's a certain mystique when a knife suddenly goes way up in price though.

Still carrying it, the locking action gets a little smoother over time and use. I’m starting to get the hang of opening and closing in a way that keeps fingers from getting pinched. Touched up the edge on the sharpmaker and it’s a razor now. Real nice work knife, sort of like a lion in a tuxedo.. looks slim and elegant but packs a punch.

Just received my new PITS folder. It is a very special good looking knife with a very sharp blade right out of box. Normally I prefer locking folders but this knife when held firmly appears rock solid. It is replacing for now my native salt 5 as my edc. What I noticed right away was the heftiness and weight of this knife. While heavier than my native 5 it has a very comfortable handle and feels well balanced. The blade centers right on and if very tight. As others have said, the price is hefty but the quality of the knife is clear when you handle it. I am anxious to try the M390 steel to see how it holds up for everyday use.

personally, if I'm ready to drop 3 bills on something, might as well add 2 and get a solid high end, crk / olamic / other high end euro brands
or so many other options in customs and makers from these forums...

just my 2c
