A couple of months ago when in Colorado, I picked up a nifty 4-inch utility knife at the Spyderco Factory Outlet for my wife (along with a Mule in CPM-20CV for myself:D). She was delighted when she found it in her Christmas stocking, and it's been doing daily duty in the kitchen ever since. The polypropylene handle is very ergonomic. The steel, MBS-26, has surpassed all expectations -- it holds an edge far better than I expected, the thin blade (0.057") still capable of slicing tomatoes effortlessly with the factory edge. And pretty well anything else. The composition of MBS-26 is, C. 0.85-1.00; chromium 13.0-15.0;manganese 0.30-0.60; moly 0.15-0.25; phosphorous 0.04; silicon 0.65; sulfur 0.01; in short, nothing out of the ordinary, but it performs like something special. Thumbs up for this excellent little blade.

MBS26 is great stuff. Serrated Spyderco kitchen knives are one of my favorite things to give to newlyweds or people just starting out. We have an MBS26 and an older VG10 and they are both kitchen favorites for the whole family.
