Years ago my wife bought me a Spyderco Adventura Dailex. I carried it a few times but then stopped carrying it after a while. Took it out recently and noticed it has a number (196) on the blade. Anyone know what that means?

Ide love to see the entire knife. Have no clue what the number is though

I'd say it's possibly a collectors club number, but probably only Sal would know for sure, maybe he will chime in later.

I had to dig mine out and check it, some of the early collaboration models had the entire first run numbered, but that doesn't seem to be the case on these. I'm pretty sure a Collector's Club number is what you have there.

I had an Advertura I gave away in a giveaway. I liked it, but I didn't like the way ss scratched easily. I paid $68 for it nib in 09' or 10'.
I don't think most guys who want to use their knives care about a cc #.

My wife bought this one when it first came out. I think it was about that same time.

Yeah I would bet a twenty dollar bill without hesitation that it is indeed a Collector's Club Number. Because the last Adventura that I owned had one of those numbers on it and the guy I got it from was a member of the Spyderco Collector's Club.

The Adventura was a really nice recurve even though it was just a bit small. For years I've wondered what the Adventura, The Spyker and the ZULU models ( all recurves) would be like in full Spyderedge? The Spyker was probably my ultimate favorite out of all the "recurve" models that Spyderco ever made. Albeit I would love to test drive an Adventura model with a G-10 handle and a full Spyderedge. I haven't seen Brother "Dialex" here at BF in quite some time>> I hope he chimes in on this one.

That's bad ass check out that jimping

Brother Dialex really covers all the bases on his designs. I even like his latest model i.e. the Battlestation>> personally I don't have much use for a knife like that but I do find the design intriguing. Again there are two recurves I would really love to test in full Spyderedge. The ULIZE and the ADVENTURA are complete opposites in many aspects but I still think that both of them would be great in SE.

Now the collector's number really wouldn't be much of a factor in that ADVENTURA model unless you had many Spyders with that same number. AT one time I had several Spyders with one particular number on it and the guy that had that collector's number ended up trading me other Spyders I wanted just to bolster his private collection. Other than that I've not ever had a collector's number really do anything to add any more value to a particular model>> and I have several Spyders with collector's numbers on them.

But do realize at this point in time the ADVENTURA is truly a collector's piece from the aspect that there are so few of them around anymore. It's really a nice find.
