FYI, I just bought a Spyderco Amalgam this morning from an online dealer, who said they just received a supply of them yesterday.

Do not believe they are a supporting member of BF and don't want to get in "trouble" so I won't mention their name. However, if they got some, other dealers must have too. So, if you want one, check your online sources to see if they have any in stock now as well.

Update: Just got a message from the dealer at about noon Pacific time that the Amalgam has already "shipped." Not really, of course, because the PO is closed today for Herbert Walker Bush's funeral services but the label has been printed and I assume it will be in the mail tomorrow.

Further Update:

Just noticed that the Amalgam is also in stock at Knife Center which is a supporting BF dealer.

I really like the looks of this one. I came to the Spyderco sub forum to check on how it was being received by everyone, but there's not much on it yet.

I'd love to see some pics, and hear your first impressions when you get it.

I think it has the potential to bump my manix outta rotation for a while. Not a huge comp lock fan though, but maybe this will be the one to change that.

Thx for the heads up.

Yeah, the silence around this knife is deafening. ;)

I was waiting for it (as I am waiting for the Vogt Tropen) because it's a flipper and has a long 3.7'+ blade, which are 2 things that I like in a folder. I don't carry any knife outside the house worth more than $50-60, so it's bascially a safe queen for me but it will be a nice addition to my collection when I receive it, which should be in the next few days.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's review by Nick Shabazz of the knife:

Nick thinks it's well made and light for its size but thinks it's too big for him, doesn't like the carbon fiber ply and finds the flipper tab annoying. Then again Nick thinks his Shaman is already big enough and isn't a big fan of flippers. So, he's obviously not a fan of this type of knife and his review shouldn't put off anyone who is.
