Spyderco Ambitious rust problems.

Anyone who has read almost any of my posts here knows that I absolutely LOVE my Ambitious.

But, I've been having a problem with rust spots on the blade due to the fact that I sweat like a pig at work. I realize it's a cheap knife, and the blade is cheap steel. I'm fine with that. And I suppose that's the root of the problem, since my Manix 2 and Buck Tempest that I regularly carry along with it never have any problems.

I've tried coating the blade with a thin layer of 3-in-1, which didn't help. Then I tried a thin layer of Teflon, with even worse results.

Any suggestions?

I didn't know whether to put this here, or in the Spyderco forum, but figured I'd start here since maybe others have experienced this kind of problem with other makes.

And yes, I did a search on this, but found nothing of substance. If anyone knows of a thread dealing with this I'd be very appreciative if you could post a link.

Flitz is a polish that will remove the rust and leave behind a protective layer. Also tuff glide and tuff cloth will help prevent rusting.

Thanks, rycen! I've heard of those.

I thought for sure the 3-in-1 would repel water, but no dice. :thumbdn:
