spyderco and balis

From what I know and what has been said before, the Bali-song and spyderco haven't gone hand in hand for quite a while (and rightfully so with all the red tape).

But recently the Jani-song might hopefully be made at the CO plant at some point in the future, so would that mean that the spydiefly's might make a comeback?

The 2ndary market goes INSANE whenever a genuine spyderfly or szabofly is put up for sale, so I'm holding out for the chance to get a U.S.A made szabofly in VG-10 or 154cm.

Think it'll happen?

Just be patient.

I just got rid of my vg 10 spyderfly for crazy cheap. (excellent condition $180)

Maybe you'll find a similar deal.

WHAT? 180? I sold a smallfly for 150 . Even saw a szabofly.....for 500 :(

Lol yeah. It went to a good guy so I'm happy.

Sometimes the small fly doesn't sell quickly if your customers are flippers. I'm actually not even sure what a small fly should go for lol. I'm sure good for edc, but has never been on my radar because it doesn't flip so well. The vg 10 standard spyderfly flipped pretty well, but it was too heavy for me. I like at the most 5oz. That came in at 5.7oz.

I just saw the same vg 10 spyderfly as mine on sale on a different forum for $350 lol
I always like to give a good deal.

I sold a Benchmade 46-01-blk that was slightly used and modified for $200. Same guy actually swooped in for that one too.

If I don't use them, I just try to get something for them, to put towards the next one. I'd rather sell it immediately, than have it sit, and haggle with members.

I'm guessing the SpyderFly would need at least some new tooling to make it here, and a complete redesign to avoid any question as to where the parts came from. While I wouldn rule it out completely, to me at least, those combine to put its return in the "unlikely to highly unlikely" category. I think we're much more likely to see more SmallFlys, probably as dealer or distributor Exclusives, like the last couple runs of them.

I actually heard, if you send in your spyderfly for warranty, they will confiscate it because of the local laws.

I really didn't believe it, until a few more members did some research and confirmed it.

It isn't due to local laws. All Spyderfly knives were recalled after Spyderco was slapped with a huge fine connected to interstate shipping (i.e. they ran afoul of federal laws). They were all supposed to be returned to Spyderco and destroyed years ago by order of a federal court. If you still have one, you are in violation of that court order. If you send one in for warranty, they cannot return it to you without violating that order themselves and facing even larger penalties.

Local laws are what prevent them from being able to manufacture new ones for sale to the general public in places where they are legal to own and carry. Any automatic or butterfly knife they make in Golden is a restricted item and has to be sold through those channels.

That's why I sold my Smallfly. They basically come with no warranty. Figured if I wanted a balisong I'd buy one from a company that would honor the warranty.

Oh OK thanks yabl

Yeah the spyderfly were mire if a novelty for me. Just something to have in my collection. I know some guys are pretty good with them, but those guys are few and far between.

With BRS in the game, it's hard to even look at other balisongs unless they are discontinued themselves, ( benchmade 42/43/47, tachyon 2) or the super limited, rare ones ( tempest, Balibalistic, basilisk)
