I would like to say that I really admire the way that Sal Glesser takes legal issues into consideration in marketing of Spyderco knives. Obviously, it is good business sense for him to down play his knives as weapons when it comes to marketing, no one wants to get sued. Still, I like the fact that Spyderco emphasizes the positive everyday utility of knives. Often members of this forum speak about self defense, but I think it is important to remember what was said in another thread recently, that our most effective weapon is our mind. I'm not saying that self defense is not a legitimate use of a knife, I'm simply saying that knife nuts should always be careful not to expose what we love to attacks from those who fear knives. Back to my original thought, I am glad that Sal Glesser has avoided overemphasizing the tactical aspects of his knives, instead by stressing utility, he has reintroduced the one handed knife back to the mainstream of cutlery. All knife lovers should be grateful.
