Spyderco Appreciation Thread

I've tried quite a few knives in my search for "the one". Partly because I'm naïve enough to believe I'd be satisfied with one and I'm a minimalist by nature. Early in my quest I put off Spydies, opting for Benchmade knives because of the AXIS lock. I later came to my Spydey senses(I couldn't resist:D) and picked up a DF2, I was in love instantly. From then until now I picked up another DF2, Delica4(sold it towards a Mantra), A M4 PM2(traded it and regret it), and a Mantra1.

The Mantra is perfect for me, absolutely perfect. The ergos are comfortable, it has a full grip but is still compact. I'm really digging the Ti scales, and wire clip which I barely feel in hand. The FFG is really slicey but yet tough with the M4 steel, which will take a lovely patina. I just plain love it.

Anyway, I wanted to create this thread to share my appreciation for Spyderco and the awesome knives they make. So, if you have any specific Spyderco's you just have share great they are, post them here.

Good thread idea, Cow.

For me, and I know I've talked about this at length, the only "one" for me is my CruWear/Carbon fiber Manix 2. It is the epitome of what I want in a knife. It's been proven tough in both platform and steel, the carbon fiber adds some class(as well as keeps my pockets from getting eaten up), and the lock is magnificent. If I had to choose one knife til the end of my days it'd be this one.

I don't even have to rave about the Manix as most of you guys know how special it is. Add skeletonized liners, top notch steel, some slick scales, and you have a knife that's worth it's weight in gold. I'd be thoroughly disappointed if I hadn't decided to acquire this one.

91bravo 91bravo I need to pick up a M4 Millie, those look sweet!

M McFeeli Thanks, I've come so close on multiple occasions of getting a Manix, I think I need to finally pull the trigger on one at some point.

Pm2 and Df2 still remain my favorites. Its pretty impressive if there's a knife out there that i can carry for 7+ years and still get just as excited to carry it as i did from day one (actually probably more excited).

I hope they(Spyderco) feels appreciated by the knife community, because i certainly apprceiate them. With there constant pushing things forward with the steels, designs, ideas, etc. They aren't afraid to do something and i think that has made the knife world progress at a much more agressive pace.

I still don’t know which millie is my favorite! S110v, cruwear, 204p, etc. can’t wait to try a shaman in sprint or exclusive. Also manix2xl, and from Japan hap40 manbug, caly zdp, stretch, endura. Want to try frankening a fluted ti with cruwear, that’s my ideal, but I don’t know if pre and post cqi knives are swappable.

I am sure that I am in the same position as many others. Spydercos occupy the largest portion of my collection. So many amazing and unique items.

, A M4 PM2(traded it and regret it),

. . . yeah you screwed up there.
I missed the original go round and paid dearly for it; not that I wasn't all about trying to buy one from them at the time. Out of stock; never got an e-mail when more came it.
Down cast . . . disheartened . . . buuuuuummmmmmmed :(

Happy ending though :

This is THEEE ONE for me. Like the color, love the lock, the M4 steel . . . for me . . . can not be topped. Even that ""frail"" pointy tip. Perfection.
Boy do I appreciate this Spyderco

You don't have to tell me twice.....I tell myself that almost every time I think of "M4" "PM2" "Spyderco" etc. haha.

I'm curious, will you let your M4 develop a patina?

For me, it is the PM2. This is a model that started the Spyderco thing for me; the one that has seen the most pocket/IWB time; the one that has been used the most. I have 10 different Spyderco models, and some come very close, but I am a PM2 lifer.

I don't see myself getting more PM2s and already gave a couple away. Too many other interesting knives out there I would like to try. Like the Mantra ...

It's been all Spyderco for me in terms of folders since I bought my first one years ago. Almost too many great models to list.

As a lefty I really appreciate all of the awesome choices for full-ambi knives in Spyderco's lineup, and as if that wasn't enough, they decided to cater to the 10% even further and produce dedicated left hand versions of the Military and Paramilitary 2. I had to buy two of each. So awesome:

Manix 2's are also pretty nice

For the office I generally carry something smaller, and again find myself spoiled for choice with great options. The Chaparral, Native 5, UKPK, Urban, and Caly 3 are some of my favorite EDCs when I want something low key.
