Spyderco Aqua Salt H1 or Benchmade 100SH20 X15 TN?

I want a fixed blade for surf fishing. I have narrowed it down to these 2. The Spyderco Aqua Salt using H1 steel or the Benchmade 100SH20 using X15 TN steel. Both companies have excellent reputations.

Benchmade changed from H1 to the new steel, maybe to be different from Spyderco, because it has better qualities or its just plain cheaper to use in manufacturing?

Your thoughts about these knives regarding rust resistance, edge holding, comfort in the hand, ease of sharpening, serrated edge cutting, sheath design etc will help me make my decision.

TIA - Swoop

I kinda want to say that the .02N means it has more nitrogen then the H1 Spyderco is using:
Change History: Blade steel upgrade from H1 to X15 T.N
'06 catalog correction for X15 specs: 0.42C, 16.0Cr, 1.8Mo, 0.35V and 0.2N

The fully serrated Aqua Salt looks a bit better IMO. It comes with the multi position clip standard, and it's got a better handle texture then the Benchmade.

I own an Aqua Salt (plain edge) and we have 100SH2Os on our rescue boats at work.
Our Benchmades are older variants in H1.

I recommend the Aqua. The blade is longer, the sheath is better and the knife has a more secure feel in the hand.

Thank you for your thoughts. This info is what I was hoping to get. Your responses will help me to decide which knife to put on my surf belt.

How does the amount of Nitrogen in the metal effect the blades perfomance?

Not sure. I'm not that much of a "steel junkie" even though I'd like to be. I'm guessing (guessing!) that it acts like carbon and thus more would be better? (My vote is still for the Spyderco though :) )

Both are not your choices because they are expensive .
A new model made by G.sakai with a rose wood handle ,made of H1 steel ,accompany with a sheath .
I have this mode.It is very sharp .

Thank you for pointing this knife out to me. Is this the "SABIKNIFE"?
The only website I found shows 6,800. If this is Japanese Yen it converts to about $65.35. Is this knife available in the United States, if so please provide me with the information.

Thank you

My thanks to everyone that replied to my thread. This is why I spend time reading the forum. Thoughts and ideas from people that don't have an axe to grind, oops, maybe I should say, don't have a dog in the fight.
Thank you
