A swiss army knive is still the classic multi tool (small, acceptable to security, cheap) the Spydertool will,i think , fade with the rest of them but imagine a swiss army knife style spyderco. Zytel scales, linerlock serrated spyderhole blade, decent fiskars scissors, small blade, and a few other useful blades. Perhaps even built in conjunction with the original manufacturer. My first posting from a ladybug, delica, copilot user.

Maybe start with a Spyderco-Centofante C25, and make it thicker to make room for the scissors, the can opener, and the screwdriver-caplifter.

Oddly enough, I was thinking a little while ago that a Spyderco-made Hobo would be great. I often work late, and can't usually find a good fork and spoon around this place (and if I brought in my own, they would soon disappear). The thing that made me think of Spyderco is that I'd want the knife blade to be a serious one -- probably AUS6, of course, but sharp and able to do light chores -- not a table knife. That way you actually use it often, and know where it is.

I'm easier to satisfy than v34, James, or johnniet. All I would like is a bottle opener. Even though I have a Leatherman Micra and a Swiss-Tech Utili-Key, I find that their bottle openers are sub-optimal for opening a Czech Pilsner.

I'm wondering if it would be too dangerous to put a bottle opener on the top side of a locking blade (maybe in a manner similar to the line cutters on the old Spyderco dive knives). The other logical alternative would be to have one cutting blade on a Dyad Jr. (or is it Mini-Dyad...I can't remember what the current name is) and the second blade could be replaced with a folding bottle opener/screwdriver. Just a thought.

Put a bottle opener on the Dyad, add a detachable fork.... The TRIAD!!!

Bring back the Syderco Laguiole, put in another backspring for a scissors or a screwdriver/bottle opener and put a corkscrew on the back. I can't remember if the Spyderco Laguiole had a hole in the blade but if not, add a low profile one like on the Native. You'd end up with kind of an improved Victorinox Waiter that could be opened with one hand and have a longer blade.
