Spyderco August Byte 2014- Error or?

Hi,

I just saw that in the Spyderco August Byte 2014, I just signed up, it's mentioned that Spyderco Yojimbo 2, CPM-S90V Steel, Peel Ply Carbon Fiber Handle is a Blue Ridge Exclusive. That must be wrong- right? I have pre-ordered and paid for one at Knifeworks and I really can't wait much longer! :-)

Thanks and Regards,

No it is correct. Blue ridge is the one that ordered them. Knifeworks handles the distribution exclusively.

Not sure if you have that right. Blue Ridge is a Spyderco distributor, so AFAIK, any dealer who buys from them will be able to purchase and sell the BRK Exclusive Yojimbo. KW may have them up for pre-order, but that doesn't mean they'll be the only dealer selling them.

It's also possible that although it's a Blue Ridge Exclusive (distributor) that it's also a KnifeWorks Exclusive (dealer) with KnifeWorks buying the entire run. After all, KnifeWorks has it listed as: Spyderco Yojimbo 2, CPM-S90V Steel, Peel Ply Carbon Fiber Handle, Plain Edge, KNIFEWORKS EXCLUSIVE, Pre-Order.
In that case, it's more likely that the August Byte is wrong, and that the knife is a KW exclusive rather than a BRK exclusive. I suppose anything is possible, but it would make no sense for a distributor, whose business depends on a number of dealers to shut out all but one of them on a "sure sell" item.

It wouldn't be the first time Blue Ridge has done a run entirely through Knifeworks - the Green CTS-204P Para2 is also listed by Spyderco as a Blue Ridge exclusive, not a KW exclusive.
