I'm posting this to say that the Barong really surprised me. I worked out a trade, getting NIB Barong & CF Stretch 2. I don't think I have to comment on the Stretch as it's been out for a bit & I think many have seen, handled, &/or have one. However, I think the Barong's one of those models that people just aren't sure about.

1st off, I liked how narrow is carried in the pocket. That was a surprise & a plus. 2nd, my hands are big (XXL easily) & they fit fine within the grip W/O having to use the choil. However, using the choil (Semi-choil, really) was not a problem. The blade (Grind, size, etc) was better than I thought.

I only saw a couple negatives, really. I thought there could've been more blade edge & jimping behind the thumb-hole. Other than that, I was impressed. Also, it's pretty light for its size.

Very nice.

Yes, I saw those. Actually, I also talked to "gunmike1" who posted his in the General section. I do like what he did to it & I'm considering getting it done.

However, in researching it further, there was an interesting point made about how close to the original design the knife actually is (No jimping or thumb ramps).

I'm not sure I'll have the jimping done, but extending the blade edge really makes sense to me. Overall, though, these are really nice folders. They surprised me.

I'm glad you are happy with it, but if your XXL hands fit that handle, that must kick mine up into the XXXXL range. When I tried not using the choil, I had points digging into my index and little fingers enough to make it very uncomfortable.

LOL, hmm, not including my thumb, my hand's 4" wide, but apparently my fingers can squeeze in. They are, however, long, but who knows. I'd say the handle was surprisingly comfortable, but not super comfortable. Fingers are tight, but it was wasn't too bad & the knife plain surprised me. I'll admit it's no where as roomy as the Mili I just got, but I don't have to use the choil like on the Para Mili.

The Barong's weight was also a surprise. I believe it's listed at 3.4 oz. Don't know exactly, but it definitely felt lighter than the CF Stretch 2. I was surprised about that, too. However, in comparison, I'd have to say the Stretch 2's a better user, plus I really like a flat ground solid ZDP-189 blade.
