Is this model slated for production sometime soon? Does anyone have a pic of it? I hope it's like a Manix but bigger :)

Last I heard, there still was no decision as to whether the Bison will reach production or not. Can tell you the "concept model" of it I saw last November did not look anything like a Manix.

The Bison would sell like hotcakes to all knife knuts, in my opinion, and certainly all Spyder-philes would have to have one. I'm in for at least two, and a trainer.

Spyderco does not post pictures of knives still in the "concept knife" stage and does not allow photographs to be taken of them when they are displayed at knife shows. One of the reasons for this is that a concept knife may change drastically from one showing to the next, or there may be multiple, and quite different, versions of it to gauge the reaction of those handling it. That last part is important, as it does require handling a knife to give suggestions that may help improve the design.

From what I understand, a knife is considered a "concept knife" until a decision to manufacture it has been made. Since the Bison is still, to the best of my very limited knowledge, in that stage of development, I think it will be a while before we see pictures. In my opinion at least part of the reason it is still at that stage is that, while it is the darling of at least some of us "knifeknuts", it will have rather limited appeal to the "general public", since many will consider it too large to carry comfortably and some areas will rule it too large to carry legally, so it could easily become a losing proposition for Spyderco.

A Spyderco megafolder would be excellent. I just hope it's not an FRN.

I seem to remember reading in another thread that someone had handled the concept model and said that it was FRN. Since it was just the concept model perhaps if it does make it to production they will choose a different handle material. Personally I would perfer a SS handle but I would probably buy at least one no matter what the handle is going to be made out of.

Puuuuuhhhhlllleeeeeeeese put this into production! I'd prefer g10 or micarta handles, but like bodieism, I'm in for at least one regardless.

Supposedly it's in the knife roll in this image...

...But who can tell?

I think that's the best you're gonna do for an online photo. ;)

Actually, I can... ;) IIRC the knife was not in that roll when I took that picture.

It is however in this picture...but somehow some magic Spyderco Prototype filters don't allow me to post high-res high-quality pictures of this shot that I took at the IWA 2005 in Nurnberg, Germany ;) :D

You can use your imagination to get the picture. Pretend you have a really large hand with 7 fingers and you are looking for a matching folder. That's the Bison.

Huh. Could'a sworn your description said it was. Ah, well... My memory's going at 24. All downhill from here. ;)
