I remember reading Spyderco may enter the large folder market this year. Does anyone have specs and/or a picture of the Bison?

I am hoping it is at least 5". I have tried some of the larger Cold Steel folders. But, I always come back to my Spyderco Police. Other knifes are not as easy to deploy without the famous Spyderco hole.

Occasionally i will carry a really big folder and the one i usually go to is cs rajah 1. Deploys quick via the wave feature and it is a beast of a blade. Strong lock up and easy to touch up (aus8). But honestly when i need a big knife like that i will usually roll with a fixed blade....rock salt or bark river bravo 1 comes to mind.

Keep em sharp fellas!

:) I just posted a thread on the obscure/prototype Spyder known as the BISON here just a couple of months ago. I was amazed at how many people agreed with me that Spyderco needs to get a serious large Hunter/Folder in their line up.

Back in 2004 when I was at the Spirit Of Steel Knife show in Dallas Texas I spent a lot of time at Spyderco's both and visited extensively with Sal & Eric Glesser ( Super guys ) Eric showed me some blades that were prototypes at the time and the one I distinctly remember was that BISON model. I was impressed with it for several reasons.

But most of all I thought it would be a superb model for Spyderco to use as an all purpose field knife and particularly a great Hunter/Folder

And I'm still holding out hope that we'll see it in the main line up here in the near future. I also would love to see one with a Guthook. So that way I won't have to corral another Impala with a guthook ;)

Spyderco would be real smart to get into the large folder business. Why just give up that market to Cold Steel? I like Cold Steel and their value for the money. However, I do not find the thumbplate to be 100% reliable in deploying the knife. All their large folders have a thumbplate and carry tip up. I prefer the Spyderco hole.

California does not allow fixed blades to be concealed. I can legally conceal a large folder though.
