Spyderco blade replacement

The ZDP blade on my spyderco Lum snapped at the spyder hole. Is this covered under warranty? Can I have this knife blade replaced? My wife was cutting some black plastic flower pots open when it failed. I know ZDP is more brittle then the other Spyderco steels and this is the main draw back of its razor sharp edge holding properties. I did a quick search and didn't find any previous post though I am sure this issue has come up before. Does anyone have any experience with this?

You have to send it in and have them look at it.

Also call them first so that they can explain the process to you first hand.I am sure Spyderco will be interested in taking a look at your knife.Good luck and take care...

Spyderco does not replace blades. They will probably not have a replacement knife, either, not for a sprint run from several years back. Send the knife to them for inspection. If they determine it was due to a defect in material or workmanship, they will offer you store credit for the MSRP against anything they currently have available.

What yablanowitz said. Instructions on where to send it can be found here. Some breaks are caused by operator error rather than a defective blade, so if you want the knife back as is if they decide this is not a warranty issue, I'd suggest including a check for $5 with the knife to cover return shipment.

I tried calling Spyderco on Wednesday twice. Talked to operators of somekind and they transfered me to QC or warranty and left messages. Does anybody know how long it takes for them usually to get back to you? Has anybody got ahold of CS right away or do they always have to call you back? Also is their a certain time of day to call that CS that you have a btter chnace of getting to talk to someone? Called at 11:00 am and talked to two differents operators but when got to CS no answer and left messages. Will try earlier on Monday just wondering if anybody knows anwsers to any of those.

The time it takes depends on how busy Charlynn happens to be at any given moment, as she is the Warranty/Repair department. If you call during MST you are more likely to get someone on the phone.
