Would somebody tell me what the difference between Native SP41PBK S30V for $65 and the Native SP7PBK Vg10 for $47. They apear to be the same except for the blade steel numbers?

I'm not sure of the difference in time they were made, there might be some small differences, as the VG10 model may have been tweaked when it made the S30V conversion.

S30V is the "wonder steel" of the time, although you can read a thread about it from a week ago.

VG10 is a considered to be a bit lower in performance, and I think is an 154CM equivelent.

Seeing as this is your first post, should I consider you somewhat new to the knife world? If this is going to be your first knife of this kind, I'd go for the VG10. I'm not much of a steel snob, so for that much price difference, I'd take the VG10 over the S30V.

The handles are differently patterned in the grip surface, the Native I has a regular style pocket clip (like on the Delica/Endura) while the Native III has the wire pocket clip (both are reversable). The blades are differently ground, most notably the swedges. And then of course it's S30V or VG-10. It appears grip serrations are different, but I'm going off pictures so I can't quite tell for sure.

I've heard complaints about the action being rather stiff on the original Natives, perhaps this is cleared up on the Native III.

The handles are molded slightly differently. The 78 ("Native III") has a "3D" molded handle for super-gripability. The 41 still has a textured handle, but not the 3D elements.
