Hi,

For my second spyderco, I was thinking about the blue 93mm rescue. Would this make a good edc--I do have large hands? Also, I read somewhere that its lock was not "MBC" rated and not as strong as other ones. Would you guys consider this a strong knife? Is a serrated blade as useful as a plain edge?

Also, I am thinking about ordering a PE Yellow Tasman too. For someone with large hands, would this knife be too small?

These spyderco's are not for sale anywhere locally, so I appreciate your help.

Do the new 93mm rescues have the finger indentation cut out of the blade spine?

They do not.

The Rescue 93mm blue I bought earlier this year:

I have one of the ones that have the finger cut out on the blade (93mm blue CE) and I like it a lot. It is not what I would carry as an EDC just because I like a point for a lot of things. I keep mine for boating and whenever I am around water. It has never shown the slightest bit of rust so I don't even have an excuse to get a Salt to replace it.

I don't know what the finger cut is good for and I am glad to see the new ones don't have it but it doesn't hurt anything except the looks. I think it is about as strong as an FRN knife like this can be. One of the best features of the Rescue is not the strength but the amount of blade you get in the size and weight. I don't think there is a Spyderco that packs as much cutting power into such a small and handy package. It carries like a Delica but cuts like a chainsaw.
