Hello everyone!

I've been eying this carbon fibre beauty but it seems to be temporarily out of stock. Anyway, before I pull trigger on this gorgeousness, I'd hope to get bit feed back on it. I generally don't carry longer than 3" blades (not a law but a habbit)... at least in urban areas but this Bob Lum's design is just so gorgeous.

But its expensive (even more so for me, who lives in Europe), so before disshing out sum that takes me about 3 months to save and makes this most expensive production knife I've yet bought I'd like to have some feed back of Spyderco's Lum knives, current and past ones:

Strength of linerlock, ergonomics, smoothness of opening or generally how people have liked that knife. Strenght and weakness'. Everything noteworthy is helpful for me to help make decision. I am looking to add this for my Urban rotation with my Spyderco UKPK and Bob Terzuola slipit. So I am not expecting to do anything super hard work with it. Shape and design are just gorgeous, minimalistic, yet gorgeous and I think it would make terrific urban utility knife.

thank you so much in advance.

It's a sweet little knife !!! Smooth as butter and has gorgeous CF and rock solid lockup due to it's Millie esque liner lock !!! You will be happy !!

I have owned the Bob Lum Chinese folder since the first green one was introduced years ago. I have never ceased to be amazed at the design and elegance of this knife. When this new type of carbon fiber was announced, I just couldn't wait for it to be released. When it finally arrived it was well worth the wait! It is so pleasing to hold and admire. Your 3 month's worth of saving will offer you a lifetime of satisfaction. I hope you manage to get one soon.

The 3-D effect of the scales is mesmerizing and I'm very happy to own this knife.

Jani,

This is my first and only Bob Lum Chinese folder. I like the overall shape, but could never warm up to the almite handles, so finally got it and am very happy I did. I like to carry it because it's thin and lies comfortably in the pocket (I carry without clip), has a nice size (not too big, not too small), and its design turned out to be surprisingly utilitarian for my usual daily tasks. To me, this knife has one of the few blades that actually looks good with a hole in it. Not crazy about the linerlock: it works and it's well made, but I question its longevity. The scales are ok, I'm not as impressed as many here, but that's a matter of personal taste and preference, and they look nice, unthreatening, and never caused problems with the grip. Actually, I like very much the shape of the handles and the fact that they have no finger grooves, thereby letting you put your fingers wherever you want them for a comfortable grip, very much like what you have in traditional slipjoints.

There are two issues that I don't like and that almost made me not buying this knife. One is how the scales are chipped around the screws. I read somewhere that the material tends to chip when is machined or drilled. They are very small chips, but I can feel them everytime I hold the knife. The second is the fact that it has washers of different materials and different sizes on each side of the blade, giving the blade a lopsided, off-center look. These two issues are cosmetic, the knife works very well in all mechanical aspects.

Good luck with your decision.

While we're on this topic, can someone post size comparison pics of this knife next to a BM 950 or 940 or Gayle Bradley? I'm interested in it as well, but I'd like to see how big it is next to those.

I love my current Lum Chinese, best knife I have owned to date. I am on a waiting list with my favourite dealer for the CF version, trust me you will not be disappointed with this knife!

The version I had was not the CF one but I can say it was an absolutely amazing knife. Great slicer for sure and beautiful lines. Very useful shape. The only reason I sold mine is that I was thinning my collection of users and mostly kept spydercos with wire clips at the time.

Alright guys, I put Bob Lum CF in order. Retailer says it may take 2-4 months, maybe even more, before they get patch from Spyderco into here... Now, I am off to wait that gorgeousness...
