I don't have any Emersons but I do like them, and I just received my Spyderco Lum tanto. The thing is the Lum is a sprint run that will get harder to find and increase in value. Also, I prefer the awesome grind on the Spyderco of hollow meets convex/apple seed vs. Emersons chisel ground blade. Both VG10 and 154 cm are great steels and I know the Lum is super quality yet I'm also sure the Emerson would be equally well built. Visually, they are completely different with one being a classy, almost gentleman's style with the other full on tactical. The wave feature is a bonus for the speed of deployment but then will you really need it to be that quick? I'd choose what I chose because of the design being much more authentic tanto vs. the very common Americanized style which I already have. As has been suggested here is the Benchmade760 which is another Lum design that I am waiting for. Its got some excellent features for the price such as a M4 steel blade and titanium frame lock but lacks the awesome grind of the Spyderco , opting for a common flat grind tanto.
