So I was searching the net for Spyderco fixed blades, thinking how great it would be to have a budget offering and I discovered the Bow River preorder! I love the design and will eventually get one. Do they plan to offer different scale colors? I like the 2 color layering. I couldn't resist one in green and white (or any other secondary). Do any of you have info on this release?

I haven't heard anything about it being made available in different colors. I think the black, white, gray monotone is nice and neutral and therefore more likely to appeal to a wider audience. That said, I'm all about all things green and I'm wondering if it would be possible to use RIT dye on the lighter parts of the G-10 and end up with, say, green and black that way.

Can't believe I derped out and didn't even think about that. Worth a shot! Anybody know when they get released?

Bumping this thread as I went to BHQ to pre-order as I forgot to do it last week. It's not available for pre-order and is showing "out of stock".

Hopefully that means a release date soon? I'm anxious to try this budget fixed blade out.

This looks such a handy utility do all size. I'm a little disappointed its not VG 10 or CTS-XHP.

I'd happily wear the extra cost.

Even so. I'll be picking up a couple. Will be a general utility knife in the kitchen for me.

Well, it's made in China, so VG-10 and XHP are out of the question completely. As far as I know, Spyderco is only producing 8cr and BD1 in China currently and since BD1 needs to be imported to China from the US and adds cost, that left 8cr as the only option left.

As far as updates.... they haven't even shown us what the sheath will be. They're being eerily quiet about it. I wonder if they're waiting to see what'll happen with the China trade deals and tariffs to see what their final cost will be and to adjust the price accordingly before it hits the market.
