Thanks Sal.

I didn't know this came out last year, if I had I would have got one then
As inexpensive as it is, I like it, handle material is a bit slick.
Screw this, here goes.
The handle material is way to slick for a knife like this, I will be fixing that.
The sheath is not as bad as it could be, but does leave a bit to be desired
I know, it was under forty bucks, for that I'm good with it.
All in all, I like it, I will be fixing a few things, but I bought 2 of them, just so I could.
Question anybody doing kydex for this thing?
Point of this thread is, thanks Spyderco, for another knife that I didn't need, but actually just wanted to have, because of the way it looked and was done, and I'm glad I got it.

If you have one, have you held it and thought, regrind the edge, and sharpen the back and it would make a really nice p'kal knife.

Again, thanks Spyderco.

I use mine as a boning knife in the kitchen. I don't find it too slick even with my hands covered in blood and stuff. My shuns are slicker.

Hi Heresthedeal,

Thanx for your comments. We'll keep your suggestions in mind. SheathPro can make a Boltaron ( High line Kydex) sheath for it.

The Bow River is a very good fixed blade but I prefer my Spyderco Bill Moran Drop Point for hunting and hiking.

Didnt Spyderco offer a Boltaron replscement sheath for this knife? Or are you not making anymore of those

I can't believe I never got one of these. A Spyderco fixed blade for under $40? Really? I'm sure I would have really loved it, but now, there are many I drool over more, and I plan to someday apply the money to something a little higher end.

I snagged one just bc its the only budget fixed blade offered. I wouldve liked it to be a bit more versatile of a design instead of being made more for breaking down wildlife, but for <$40 i cant really complain

I can wholeheartedly agree with that. It is a heck of a deal for a Spyderco fixed blade, and it looks good too. One can't expect everything at that price.

Exactly. It was designed as a task oriented knife which is totally fine. Would love to see Spyderco expand their budget fixed blades... shit even a Byrd with 8cr and frn handles. Doesnt have to be anything too fancy :)

I just got the Bow River this past weekend and my views are similar to Gatorflash; I prefer the Moran overall but I'd use the BR along side it for other less precise tasks. The handle is a little slick for me and I would've liked screws but I assume it was to keep costs down. I do like the sheath but haven't actually placed the knife in it as I don't plan on carrying it, I might just keep it in the drawer or have it ground into a double edge:). The BR makes me curious enough to check out other models like the Sprig and I do like the little tip cover that came with it.

Cool. Let us know how you like it. Maybe you will enable me in return.
Nice quality, I didn't realize it was a China one, I usually don't buy mainland stuff. Overall so far I think it is definitely worth the price(I paid anyway). A nice change to have the option of carrying a decent quality knife you don't have to worry about. Cheaper sheath but at least it won't scratch up the knife like some Kydex Sheaths do.
