So I pulled the trigger on a southard flipper this morning. It should be here early next week. Just wondering what some of your opinions on this knife are?

Design, materials, workmanship are all as good as production knives get. Perfect size (~ Para2), great ergos, lots of eye appeal, and a solid value at ~$250.

$250 for a 3.4" factory knife seems a bit high for the size you get. Maybe that much if they were discontinued...

Since I got mine last week,it's bumped everything else out of my pocket. My Hinderer,CRK,& some customs are starting to feel neglected.:o
Totally worth the money!!

what, since when is cost proportional to blade length? Going with that line of thinking you must find the techno to be simply ridiculous.

Thanks for the responses guys. I struggled to make a decision on buyingthis one. I was considering buying a 0560. I think I am still going to take a trip to my not so local knife pusher and check out the 0560.

Yeah, disregard the materials, features, fit and finish, and over all quality of the knife. None of that matters.

Since individual preferences and needs vary so much, that's CLEARLY the right answer.

I went through the same decision process with the same 2 contenders a few weeks ago for my first flipper. I went with the Southard, the fact that it was a Spyderco tipped the scales. It's a solid, well made piece, that is very apparent once you get it in your hands and handle it. I still plan on getting either a 560/561 next to compare the two. Lots of opinions in the General forum by those who have owned both.

I feel the southard's size is better for edc for ME size wise. I bought one and am digging it. I will get a 560/561 as well however - have handeled one and liked it. Just larger which is not a bad thing. Variety is the spice of life.

My apologies! I stand corrected. Guess I went with a gut reaction instead of researching it first.

best production flipper period. And this is from a guy who has a hard time admitting this about knives made overseas. But a spade is a spade. And the Southard is an amazing knife. Knocked my 560 out of EDC rotation. Actually it knocked everything out of edc rotation.
