Hey guy's,

Does anyone know where I can order The Southard flipper from?
Can't find one anywhere online? Don't want to go through ebay. Just had a horrid experience.

Thank you in advance to anyone who kniws of a place. I'm hoping my fellow knife heads can point me in the right direction.

Wow! All of our usual online retailers had quite a few last week.......now it seems like they are all sold out. It didn't take long for them to get snatched up. I don't know if Spyderco has anymore that will be going to dealers from the first batch but it might be a while before we see the second batch of these.

Yeah, I just got through with another Google search and didn't find anything. Spyderco if your reading this, please cook up another batch as soon as possible. You will put a big o'l smile on this boys face : )

There's one on the exchange here, for 255 total price. Which is only a few dollars more than I paid from a dealer. So, surprised it's still there.

I got mine (en route) from knife centre too, without preorder. They were in stock on Friday. They're listed as 2-3 days now, so they probably have more on the way.

They will be like all the rest of those Taiwan made Spydercos and be available everywhere soon enough. In fact if you wait I'd say the price will drop just like it did on the rest, too.

I doubt the price will drop below ~$240. The MSRP is $399. This is the most exquisite combination of design, materials and manufacturing to come out of Taichung yet, IMHO.

They are already marked at 223.95 at one well known dealer, on back-order but still a lot less than 240.

Every-time I jump in a buy almost any production model when it first comes out, I find it's cheaper down the road when the demand has slacked and they are setting in all dealers inventory. Not just Spyderco either, I paid way more for a certain ZT when it first came out than can be had for now .And back then it was the same deal as these. They were all sold out fast and people that had grabbed some were selling them for a lot more than they'd paid. Now they're everywhere you look and way less.

Agreed, I'll wait it out for a bit. I have a feeling there will be plenty more for purchase.

A few months back I was looking for a ZT 0561 and could not find one for the life of me under $260. Now there's a plenty going for under $230.

Gotta remind myself lesson learned and be a little more patient.

Appreciate everyone chiming in though.

Jeff is sort of a permanent outlier. His prices are nearly always lower than prevailing market prices, which is good if he's got what you want in stock, but in general no one else is matching his prices and that doesn't help if he's out of stock. :( I was able to pick up two of these from two different dealers @ $240 each, and there's no telling when Jeff (or anyone else) is going to have more. ;) Which leads to an interesting question: after the early rush calms down, I wonder how well this will sell going forward??? The design, materials and manufacturing are all totally top-of-the-line for a production knife. It will be interesting to see if demand will be steady, or whether this is a one-shot-wonder?

I think it will sell very well, just everything good seems to go for a bit more when it's first released. Then as people acquire them and the inventories get caught up the price tends to drop a bit. Sometimes it takes longer but generally that's the way I've noticed it going. Of course this could be the exception and always sell out fast but given the factory where it's produced seems to have high capacity I doubt they will be scarce with time.

Assuming it's not a market bust, I think you're right. There do seem to be product availability/inventory/production cycles with many of the most popular knives. The Para2 is a notorious example, but the Gayle Bradley has had a couple of inventory droughts. Most manufacturers would love to have that problem! ;)
