Spyderco Bras Southard Wicked Edge Settings....

I dont have one but id go as steep as possible. Ive used M390 (basically the same) at 10 degrees no sweat, so 15 will be good , If you have a riser block or what ever it is, do 12 degrees :)

Here are my settings and im very happy with the results.

Top setting on the depth guide
"B 1/4" on the alignment ruler
15° on the left arm, 16° on the right arm to compensate for blade thickness.

I don't have the digital angle cube, so I don't know the exact edge angle, but judging by eye considering the weps is calibrated to an edge 5/8" above the vice I'd say this setting is really close to 30° inclusive.

Great thread indeed. I'm saving for a WE and will use it on my Southard.... if the thing ever gets dull! I do have and Edge Pro but I'm waiting for the WE for the next round of reprofiles.

I'd be interested in hearing what some of the rest of you use in terms of settings. My settings seems to be good for me, but it'll be interesting to see if anyone else has other ideas.

One thing to keep in mind is that the spine on the southard isn't straight, which makes replicating the tilt of the knife in the vice a bit tricky.

Getting ready to put a 30 degree inclusive on mine, don't want to go thinner, yet... As for the spine not being strait, as long as you record the length setting (B) and keep the blade flat on both prongs of the depth key it's repeatable.
