Have any of you guys sharpened the Bushcraft or Tuominen puukko on the Sharpmaker? I was considering getting one for my Bushcraft but don't know if it is set up for it. Should I jsut get the normal bench stones?

Sharpmaker if you want to add a microbevel, otherwise it's a zero degree grind. Sharpen the entire cutting bevel on a stone and strop it to get the burr off.

I usually use a arkansaw stone. You can get one for less than $10. You could use a sharpmaker by laying the stones on the insert on the bottom of the base for a flat surface. I use my sharpmaker on most all my knives.

I have arkansas stones but I find that I eat them up. All my super duper stainless' i guess. Didn't know you could lay the sharp maker stones down. I think I'm gonna try that one. Thanks for the help

laying the sharpmaker flat won't work - the plastic base will get in the way/knife's handle will hit it...use bench stones to sharpen a scandi grind properly...i like dmt myself.

side note: the bushcraftuk is my favorite fixed blade of all time...great knife!

For a scandi type grind it will be best to use waterstones or sandpaper over glass. Other methods can work but its much more difficult.
