Ok folks, I'm looking to pull the trigger on either the Enzo Trapper O1 or the Spyderco Bushcrafter. I was hoping someone had a picture of them side by side so I could see the blade length... Anyone out there have any thoughts on which one to get one way or the other?

I'm leaning towards the Enzo Trapper, 1: it's cheaper 2: I like the sheath better, 3: it's made in Finland.

What I like about the Spyderco is that the handle seems longer/more fuller, and the blade seems longer...

So help me out folks...

I have a O1 Trapper, I bought the kit back when the kits were more popular. I ended up trading for another used one. Both knives have been good. I have since evolved to a convex guy, so they dont see much use anymore.

Spyderco has had its ups and downs with thier bushcrafter. Handle problems plauged the early models. Truth is by now I am sure they are fine. They seem overpriced for asian tool steel.

More and more I value American made blades. Be it the boys at Bark River (Yeah they have thier issues too) or any of the other home grown custom makers. While there is nothing wrong with imports I think for a little to no extra you could get some american mojo.

Blindhorse is another good company

If you like the Spyderco you really should look at the Blindhorse Bushcrafter or Bushbaby. Bark River blade are very nice.

Just keep in mind that the Spyderco Bushcrafter has one of the most comfortable handles out there. This knife is just ridiculously comfortable to use. I also find the Spyderco sheath to be more than up to the task for it's intended purpose. It holds the knife quite securely, has a plastic insert that works both left and right handed so you don't run the risk of eventually cutting through your sheath stitches, and looks decent as well as being tough.

+1 on the Spyderco. It's easily in the top 3 of the most comfortable handles of any knife I've ever held. The O1 steel holds a great edge and is easy to sharpen, and it's stout enough to survive reasonable bushcraft tasks.

Hi,

Not trying to hijack the thread; but is the Spydie Bushcrafter now discontinued? I know there's still some around, but are these old stock or have Spydie started production again? Reason for asking; I'm also looking at getting a Spydie Bushcrafter and was wondering if I have to be quick to get one? Thanks, John

The Spydie Bushcrafter with the wood handles is out of production and sold out at their store. There is a new version with equally-comfortable G10 scales out now.
