Can the two work something out to get us a Infi Military or INFITARY.

I was reading that they have never been able to get it to chip in tests and thought it would be a very good heavy use steel for a folder like the Military.
Is there any info on compareing S30V to infi.
BTW I like S30V better than any steel I have had so far.

SpyderBusse Military on infi? Nah.. Word had it that Busse is coming up with a folder.. Perhaps that is a better catch..

Yeah thats what got me thinking about this.Spydie hole Busse-infi,snake skin nucarta Spydie.
If infi has no huge advantage over S30V though there would not be much sence in it.

. . . it should be an exciting concept. I'm a fan of both types of knives. But I'm not really seeing it --- comes off as too much of a Frankenblade to my mind.

Busse Folder? Only for the past... what, 3 years it's been a rumor? ;)

how DOES infi compare to S30V, apart from the the corrosion resistance factor?

Spyken,

INFI, having less chrome, should be able to take a finer edge and withstand more abuse than S30V. Don't own any INFI, so I can't tell you how which steel is easier to sharpen.

It would be nice to see more low-chrome folding knives on the market. Right now, for locking blades, I'm only aware of Cold Steel's Trailguide series and the 710HS and 910HS from Benchmade.

Nicer still, would be to see a limited edition Temperance (still in VG-10) with snakeskin nucarta.

Hi u812,

I'd be interested in seeing some links to the testing that Busse has performed. Busse tends to run their edges much thicker than Spyderco - perhaps that is why they have not been able to get it to chip?

Or maybe INFI really is a wonder steel :)

Matthew

I believe Busse applies a convex edge on 1 side of their knives, so that probably improves against chipping in their testing as well as their use of INFI.

i'm with zal.

my thinking here is that spydercos are built to the best resaonable standards to reliably perform their tasks, but usually not heavily OVERbuilt. they are not prybars. a busse/spydie hybrid would be clunky and heavy and inefficient, in my opinion. now if sal & co want to come up with a prybar to keep alongside one of my trusty clipits, i'm all ears. otherwise, i jut don't see the purpose in this idea.
