spyderco byrd series any good

They are well made and a bargain for the price

They are made in Taiwan with 8Cr13MoV steel

No, they are not made in Taiwan. They are made in China (mainland China) to Spyderco's specifications. They are very good knives for the money. In fact, they'd be pretty good knives for twice the money.

If you want a G10 Dragonfly, then pick yourself up a G10 Byrd Robin for $26 and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

My bad. Guess I have been wrong this whole time

^ i agree with the highlighted.

add one more to the above opinions. they are very good knives at really reasonable prices.

Again, great knives for the price. I have 4 byrd knives (G10 Crossbill, G10 Flight, G10 Cara Cara 2 and an FRN Cara Cara 2); they all lock up solid, blades are centered, edges are sharp and handles feel quite ergonomic. I have been giving more pocket time to the G10 Cara Cara 2, which by design, compares to the $60-$70 Spyderco Endura, but for 1/2 the price! Plus, if I ever lose a Byrd knife, I am not out a huge chunk of change and can easily purchase another one! I would definitely recommend these knives.

I am a huge Spyderco nut. Byrd however, I've had poor experiences with. For the same money, I'd get a Kershaw before a Byrd. The same steel with better grinds and HT. Just my opinion.

I've had one for years as a casual every day user. Its my little beater knife and has held up very well. Good knife for the money.

Been ENTIRELY satisfied with the Meadowlark2 in G-10. Inexpensive, very well made and a useful bit of kit.

They are very good value knives, not too nice but functional. You can get more for your money with the Chinese brands like Enlan and Sanrenmu IMO, but they don't offer customer service. It's a tradeoff and it's up to you; both options offer a good value for what you get.

I have a dozen or so Byrds and all but one has given me stellar performance. The 'one' I refer to has a weak locking spring. I doubt that there is a better value for the price conscience consumer.

I really like their FRN models, but don't like their G10. Feels cheap. They're great bargains, though, as others have mentioned. Their rescue models are the only good fully-serrated, one-handed opening sheepsfoot knives I know of.:thumbup:
