I recently purchases the Spyderco Robin in stainless steel and the Spyderco Finch with Frn handles, both plain edges paid 20 dallors total for the 2 knives..steal or poor deal?

You tell us! Now that you have them, are they worth $20 to you for your needs? Maybe in a few weeks it will become clear with use.

I don't know about those models but I do own a Byrd Cara Cara and It is one of the best folders I own.

The finch is more or less going tobe when i am at work...not really supposed to have a knife at work but its small and easy to carry..the robyn more of a EDC..hopefully they will be cool

They are the only knives made in China that I would recommend.

when sal glasser & his team visited china they remarked that many knife factories were in operation. they searched until they found facilitys with good quality control. these were selected to produce the byrd line along with some spyder imports. benchmade also did the similar selection process. the byrd was so sucessful that now it is shown to be a separate brand.the knives are very well made & the basic alloy is = to aus8.6 or 7 months ago i bought a b.m. upper quality chinese import so well constructed that it was almost impossible to tell where the blade & backspring met.in fact that knife easiley compared to spyders & b.m. costing twice as much.

The more i collect knives the more made is the usa is important, but spyderco does a good job and on ebay u can get some really good deals...for what i use knives for a super expensive knife is not needed not that i don;t have some nice knives like Fallkniven BM Griptilian and so on...but i also drive a 11 yr old honda with 131K miles on it that is still running strong..

You got a really good deal on the Finch and Robin

Byrds are good knives. Not good for the money knives; just plain good knives.

After trying and loving my Spyderco Tenacious and EDC'ing it for some time now, I decided to try their Byrd line. I ordered the Raven G10 and am awaiting its arrival. I'm looking forward trying it out. I've heard some good stuff on the Byrd line and hope I'm not disappointed.

Headed your same direction. Got a Tenacious and its gonna push me to scoop up a few of those Byrd's. It holds a stellar edge, and Ive worked mine good over the last month. Very impressed. Its become a go-to knife.
