Well, hello everyone! Im Dave, and have been spyderco lover since the begining of time. I was just browsing the internet for knives, when i came across the dyad. Upon further investigation of this double blade spyderco, i realised how rare it was, and so i came here to learn from all of you and your vast knowledge of knives. I was wondering where to get one, if you know any sort store or website. I know ebays my best bet, but i was hoping you could shed some light on my quest.

Thanks.

If I knew of any vendors where I could buy another one, they wouldn't have one to sell you ;) (I'm looking for a spare myself)

You are correct, you are in the right place! I went to the exchange section of this forums and posted a wanted list (there is a wanted section) and I got a Dyad, Dodo, and the first ZDP Delica all for WELL BELOW the prices that EBay commands. Give it a shot.

The C-44 big Dyad is truly my top dog for EDC carry. I have been carrying one of mine daily for over 2 years now. Having a fully serrated blade along with a super streamlined, flat grind, clip point, Plain edged blade just gives you a super folder that you can virtually do any reasonable cutting chores with. If I was to do an episode of Man Versus Wild I would be content to just carry my big Dyad. And keep in mind that I use both of it's blades a lot. I accompany my big Dyad most of the time with a Spyderco G-10 handled Harpy. The 2 of them together just has me spoiled rotten. There is no way I could go back to carrying a mainline, hardware store knife ( I won't mention any brands because most of you know who I'm talking about anyway).

The popularity and demand/appreciation for the C-44 is slowly and surely manifesting itself. Along with YAB and a couple of other Hard Core Dyad fans I know of here on the 2 Forums > I am slowly hearing more and more people coming forward and realizing that a full sized, multi variation, double bladed knife truly has it's place in our tool arsenal. If more people were aware of the super utility potential of the big Dyad they would bolster market demand to where Spyderco would act on it. I do think we will see Spyderco bring back another full sized double bladed knife. I am beginning to doubt however if it will be another Dyad model. But I would sure love to see a new one made in Golden Colorado with either M-4 or some other Crucible blade steel. Thanks for starting this thread. BRING back the DYAD, AYOOB, JD Smith and C-46 Bob Lum tanto folder. All of the above are just to darned good to retire. JD

I thought they were re-issuing the Dyad in October...?!?

JD - got any "in-hand" pics? I'm wondering about the way the closed blade fits in your hand when the other one's open.

I missed the Dyad back when it was in production...That was before my eyes were open to Spyderco. I now wish I had one (I mean two or three or four...).

I do hope to get one of the small Dyads coming out soon. I find myself in an unusual position on this one...I usually make a case for smaller knives, but I actually want a Dyad bigger than the one coming out...still going to try to get one.

:)

Yeah

I thought there were plans for a DYAD to be brought back in H-1.

There was a thread a while back with a few folks discussing the possibility of an H-1 SALT type DYAD model. But I didn't see anything written in concrete about it. There was also a very serious thread back about 5 months about the possible reintroduction of the C-60 Massad Ayoob. On that thread Sal Glesser and Massad Ayoob himself both chimed in on it. Unfortunately I haven't heard anything concrete about that either. :(

Well, I guess H-1 is okay, but I'm not a huge fan of the steel. Maybe I just don't know how to work with it, but I'm never satisfied with the edge I get on H-1. I much prefer VG-10 or S30V.

Like JD, I'd like to see it made in Golden if it happens.
:)

Congratulations on making my ignore list in only three posts!

I took his post to be light hearted not as sarcastic. Why would you put him on "ignore" for only saying that? Why would you put anyone on ignore? I'm probably on ignore now for asking this.

There are few ways to get on my ignore list. Replying to a post with "you blow" is one of the faster ones.

I had to go back and read his post again to see what you were talkin about. Still didn't see anything unusual so I looked for an edit sig. Then I read it again and thought Douh, how'd I miss that.

anybody got any in-hand pics of the Dyad?
