I am thinking in buying one of these three models from Spyderco to use as a EDC....would really like to know what you guys think about it. I am currently using Zero Tolerance 3550 as EDC, wanna try a different style, :)

The caly series is pinned construction which puts me off of them. I have a sage 2 which I absolutely love, and would be my recommendation of the choices you listed, but to be perfectly honest, I'll take my paramilitary 2 over all of them any day.

I much prefer the Caly 3.5. It may have the highest blade/scale ratio of any Spydie. It packs a blade the same size as the Para 2, but in a smaller package. And with a deep carry clip. I have the Sage 2 as well, but it doesn't get much love. The Sage 2 is a fine piece of knife, but the Caly 3.5 gets the pocket time.

If you don't already own one, get a G10 Caly3 :) It is the one.

The 3.5 is a great knife, but very unlike its predecessor in mood - to me it has the feel of something more like a locking laguiole or similar; elegant, foody.

Personally I'd give either of the Caly's the edge over the Sage as a user simply because I find the obtuse blade shape of the sage together with the wider pivot point less versatile. Still can't get rid of my Sage 2 though! My favourite Spyderco EDC though is the Delica 4 FFG. It offers a wider handle which I like (the Caly is too narrow for me) together with a thinner blade making it a great slicer. I have the G10 version, class:)

Thanks guys for your imsights and opinions. I just checked the paramilitary 2 with camo and I loved it! I think i will be buying sage 2 and caly 3 for the collection and para2 for Edc.....heheh.

Thanks again.

Caly 3.5 in VG-10 is an awesome knife, I have found that VG-10 steel has become a favorite of mine because of its ability to hold an edge, ease of sharpening and rust resistance

I posted a comparative review that includes the Caly3 here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...dmade-knife-(feature)?p=13384198#post13384198

A couple things i don't like:
1) sharp 'jimping' teeth are awful :thumbdn: but that's the case for a lot of spydercos
2) handle is slick when trying to pull it out of the pocket - I wish it had more traction at the end or that more of it stuck up above the clip
3) The tip just barely sits below the scales when the knife is closed, and the profile is wide in the pocket/waist

Things I like:
1) blade/handle ratio
2) beautiful shape with excellent finish, nice carbon-fiber (not peel-ply), polished spine, polished blade of ZDP189 clad with 420 sharpened all the way to the kick (Spyderco is the only company I've come across that does this well without a notch at the choil)
3) Decent geometry for both slicing and harder use ~0.015" behind the edge
4) smooth&easy one-hand closing

If I were to get another Spyderco (that isn't a Dragonfly ;) ) it'd be a PM2 or a Native. Here's a good comparison pic of caly3, native, & sage models, not mine:

Caly 3 CF is my favorite Spyderco. Cuts great, carries great, handles great. All around excellent EDC. I have the Sage 2 as well. It's a nice knife, but for EDC, I much prefer the Caly 3. I haven't tried a Caly 3.5 yet, but that one definitely does appeal to me as well (especially given my experience with the Caly 3).
