Hi,

Can anyone tell me how they do maintenance on their Caly 3 or 3.5, considering it is pin construction and cannot be disassembled?

The pivot is adjustable so can one loosen it all the way and remove the blade for maintenance?

As far as I know, the Caly doesn't use washers, so the blade is easily removed. When I had one (ZDP/CF) I just unscrewed the pivot, took the bolt out, and the blade was out. I couldn't get it super clean, but I got most of the grit.

That's what i was looking for. Thanks very much, Rasputin!

I don't have a caly 3, but what I usually do with knives that can't be disassembled is I'll take off all the parts that I can, (I guess in your case it would be the pivot and blade it self) and wash it with soap and water. Follow up with compressed air to blow any moisture out of the cracks.

The blade can be taken out, but when I did it the screw head wore a bit, so be careful.

I have carried a Caly 3 in my right front pocket every day since July of 2008.Every once in a while I might blow any pocket lint out, when it needs it I hone it,and 3or 4 times I have put a drop of Ballistol on the blade pivot area.Other than that I just cut stuff with it.What kind of "maintaining"do you envision you would need to take it apart?
