Anyone use a captain I find this knife very interesting. All the reviews look good, but I want a work knife. I'm an electrician so I'll be stripping wire and cutting tape, smurf tube, boxes, rubber, sharpening pencils and some other tasks. Plus this will kinda fill my want for a hawkbill.

I pack one often,it is a edc for me i got 2 i liked em so good, small and smooth to open................hope this helps

:)

I love mine , its one of my EDC knifes , I have nothing bad to say about it.
to bad it was discontinued.

Good luck finding one. After it was discontinued, most dealers sold their remaining stock at a steep discount, and they went fast (As did most of the other d/ced models this year. I'm kicking myself for not picking up a second Barong. Would have paid half what I did for the first one.)

I consider the C-111 Captain model as though it is a convex straight razor from a self defense standpoint. It truly is a most interesting design. I'm still scratching my head as to why it never was available in Spyderedge. BEcause from what I'm told it was originally designed with a serrated edge.

But the Captain isn't only a self defense gem it's also a great skinning knife. The time I used it on a small white-tail deer one autumn I couldn't believe how easy it was to initially pierce the hide and start removing it. The configuration of the blade keeps it in a constant angle of attack. The VG-10 blade is easy to keep in a razor sharp condition and you must take your time sharpening it.

I consider the C-111 Captain truly a keeper because now that it's discontinued I got a feeling that they will dry up within 6 months or so and then be hard to obtain.

The Captain is truly a unique design but for a knife enthusiast that wants to constantly learn new cutting techniques it's a fun blade to work with. I just hope some day I can find a way to have one made with a Spyderedge. The Captain isn't for everybody but if you do a wide array of cutting chores you'll soon see what the designer had in mind.

The C-111 is a great blade design

The Captain is an all around excellent knife. I find the tip works very well in f Iood prep.

I agree that the Captain should be bought now, since it's on sale a lot of places and really is an awesome knife, but for pure hawkbillyness make sure to pick up a Spyderhawk as well. It really is the king of curved in blades.

Got my Captain in today. This is a keeper, along side the Native 4 and the Sage

There is one more cutting job that I personally think the Captain is great for. When butchering a deer and you're cutting all the loose meat around the bones that you usually make burger out of>> It works great to clean all of the remaining traces of meat from the bones.

The round tip part is great for getting into tight places. I would also bet that this blade is great for taxidermy work. I bet this blade would be great for caping around the neck of a deer, elk, moose or whatever critter you want to prep for mounting.

AS much of a self defense gem as this knife could be I'm sure it's also got several practical uses. Many people in a year from now are going to be sad that the Captain is no longer with us. I already miss it. The C-111 has truly made it's mark during it's tenure. You can still get them now through many dealers but 6 months from now I don't think that will be the case. >> JD
