Anybody have one? how do you like it? Anyone know why they chose such a bizaare blade shape and its advantages? thanks.

I have one and I love it. The designer, Jason Breeden, designed this knife for a combination of things, geared toward the outdoorsman - skinning hide from an animal and making a reaching cut underwater are 2 that come to mind. Much as I love the outdoors, these are things that I don't find myself doing much of these days.

I have used mine for a few scraping or pushing type cuts and it works great.

It also works nicely when slicing open bags that have a lot of slack in them (like the plastic grocery bags).

The tip seems good for doing controlled cuts while whittling.

It seems like a knife that people either love or they hate due to the odd shape. My wife calls mine "the cheese knife" and makes fun of me for liking it. That doesn't chafe my behind too much - I still dig it.

As I'm not sure what knives you are familiar with, I will use the one that I have in my collection that is most similar - the Sage 1:

The handle is wider/thicker/beefier than the Sage, and about the same length.

Blade length is about the same as the Sage 1 (the Captain is just a tiny bit shorter).

Or if you are familiar with the Para Military, the Captain has a slightly shorter blade length. The handle on the Para is longer and thinner.

I can't load photos for comparison, or I would do so.
