Thanks for the awesome pics, NGK. Now I'm going to have to scrape up some cash for this Spydie. ;) :D

...NICE-looking Police model, except that the pocket-clip is STILL on the WRONG side.:grumpy:.

Wrong side for sure cause SOGman here is lefty I believe.

2 last ones, for now anyway :) leftys later today. You will notice my well used and carried Spyderco Police SS hopefully Mr. Ron Cochran will fix her up for me soon. Edited to add: if anyone was wondering why 2 badges in the pic below, the older looking one is just that, they retired it about a year ago then replaced all the depts badges, that older one was worn buy my uncle in the 70's. I always thought that was cool...

Hi i have G-10 model with the same type of blade that is pictured with the gun, my question is would the Carbon Fiber handle be more likely to slip out of your hand than the G-10? i only ask because the G-10 has a kinda roughness to it. thanx

This CF model is kind of like the CF Civilian, it's a pretty collectors piece using highend materials. As far as practicality goes, the slick surface looks cool but you're right, the g-10 is more secure. Hopefully Spyderco may try 'textured CF' in this coming year. CF is stronger than g10, so with g10-like texure added, it would become the reigning champ(with the price to match).

KenN hit the nail on the head. These are pretty, the G-10 does have a gripper texture than these smooth carbon fiber models, but carboon fiber can be done with a texture in which case would whip g-10 in IMO.

Yes, I AM a "lefty". I also have to say that I think that it's a DAMN SHAME that Spyderco saw a need to discontinue the G-10 Police model, and ALL "lefty" Police models (aside from the new CF models that I can't afford to buy anyway...).

Why would the cf police be as heavy as the ss version? I would have thought the weight would be the same as the g-10 version. Is the weight that is quoted for the g-10 version the ones without the steel liners?

These CF Police have a still liners on one side and steel lockback, the CF is very thick on them, I have not measured the thickness but it is atleast as thick as the G-10 versions maybe thicker. I dont see a need for the steel liners other than I guess to give something to house or screw the screws into?

But anyway Glockman here are the left hand model picks, you might NOTICE that the one I'm shooting the pic of is serial numbered 001 ...

You're right about the liners. The only real benefit to them is that they give the screws a solid foundation to fasten to. I've got a couple linerless g10 Spyderco lockbacks and several with them, and the major difference is weight and thickness. There is a noticable increase in speed when a knife is stripped down to only the essential components for it to perform it's function.

Nice pics BTW,

take care,
Ken

NGK-Webmaster,

...Wanna Trade?.:D.
(Man, I GOTTA get one of those "lefty" Police models!).

With the linerless g-10 police's, the scales can be spread apart a bit.I was worried at first but I have stopped carrying the knife in favour of the ss version.
