Thanks JD. I've tried Norton and they don't make ceramic stone of that size. I'll try the others.
Yes, I agree with you on Norton's products. DM
In addition, Fallkniven makes a ceramic stone, but only up to 4 inches, which of course is not what you're looking for. I just thought I'd mention that they're out there, and very highly thought of.
Does Fallkniven actually manufacture their own stones? Because I was told a couple of years ago that some German or Belgium company made their sharpening equipment. Fallkniven has/or had a stone that was ceramic on one side and diamond on the other. I heard it was a great stone for field use.
About a month ago I "GOOGLE-ED" the words "ceramic sharpening stone" and the only ones I came up with was Spyderco, Global and another Japanese company and I don't remember their name off the top of my head.
I don't know if 3M Company makes ceramic stones or not. But 3M's diamond stones are as good as anyone's.
Another one that just came to mind is the old Crock Stick company. I think they got bought out by Lansky or one of those other sharpening companies. Let me know what you come up with. I'll check with a couple of guys I know on the Spyderco.com Forum who are real sharpening nuts like I am.
They wouldn't be Kyocera maybe? I've had one for years of that brand. Another +1 for the Spydercos...have had the set of three for a long time and they're excellent.
