Spyderco CF Kopa question . . .

Ok, so I just ordered a CF Kopa from Knifeworks today and was wondering what the background on these is. From what I understand they were started in 2005 and a new style was released every few months until late 2007 with only 600 pieces of each new material being made. So, I've been wanting this knife for a long time and was just really surprised to see it out again, especially in CF. Does anyone know how many they keep in reserve or if there is another sprint run going on here?

Kopas were limited runs of 600 pieces with different handle materials. Total 16 variants. They were discontinued in 2010. Last two Kopas of 2009 were CF and Squash bone. Some dealers still have some of them in stock, quite a few available on e-bay. I think, that the first four is most difficult to find NIB: Cocobolo, Micarta, Tiger, and Apple Coral. Could be some difficulties with black quince. This Kopa has lowers MSRP, so it was sold very fast and probably many of the were put to use.
Enjoy your Kopa, it is great little knife.

Top row: Cocobolo - Black Micarta - Evrina - Tiger Coral - Apple Coral - Gold Pearl - Turquoise - Black Quince

Bottom Row: Pearl with Abalone - Amber Jigged Bone - Stacked Wood - Blue Bone - Abalone with Pearl - Giraffe Bone - Squash Jigged Bone - Carbon Fiber

Note that Evrina, a Japanese "artificial ivory" is normally plain white. Sal had Linda Karst-Stone scrim mine for me to show what could be done with it.

I have the Kopa in jigged bone and another in carbon fiber. The carbon fiber version gets some pocket time. It is a nice knife. If I recall, and Tony would know, many of the models have hidden pins helping to hold the inlays in place. I am not sure if this is the case for the carbon fiber version.
It is made very well by Moki.
