Although I have a small LEFTY Sebenza Insingo on order with CRK, in the meantime I am looking for a great office EDC kinife for light to moderate duty and have narrowed my choice down to either the Chaparral or the Benchmade 940-1 with the
Carbon Fiber handles and stone washed SV90 blade.

What are you guy's thoughts?

While I prefer the 940-1, I have also had 2 Chaps. They are light, great slicers and less than 1/2 the price of the 940-1. Since you are a lefty, both locks will work great. There is no wrong choice here. Both can be traded/sold with little effort should you want to unload once you take possession of the CRK. If you decide to keep then I would think the 940-1 will hold more allure in the long run. Another cool thing about the 940-1 is that it barely weighs more than the Chappie and it is a much larger knife.

I like the Chap. much more than the 940s but hesitate to use it beyond light tasks due to its thin blade. The 940 would be a better EDC, the Chap. is a better "dress" knife, IMO.

Two different animals there in two different price ranges. I love my Chaparral but I would not EDC it alone on a daily basis, like most for dress clothes and light work. 940 would make a better all around EDC knife.

I'll debate that point. The 940-1 design makes it extremely pocket friendly and is actually lighter than the chaparral even though it is a much larger, beefier knife. It's so unique in this aspect. Now if by "better dress" knife you mean smaller then that's true.

Not debating the 940 isn't an excellent knife. I should've clarified that I'm basing this on the/my Chap. 2, which is a much classier piece for dress. Again, just my opinion.

The cf Chaparral has been my office edc for 2yrs.

No experience with the 940, but looking at pics I don't think it would be as sheeple friendly, at least not where I work. The Chap hasn't ever raised an eyebrow at lunch, opening boxes, mail, etc...

I've had both, and for the price I'd go with a Chaparral. The thin blade stock makes it a very flat package, and the sizing is great for most tasks I use it for - I typically do a large quantity of light tasks, and neither really strikes me as a hard use blade anyways. I found that the Chaparral is simply a better slicer, whereas the 940-1 is a little steep on the grind for my tastes. It honestly depends on your usage/preferences.

Chaparral:
Much cheaper
Better slicer
Flatter in pocket
Better ergos (opinion)
Smaller overall
Easier to sharpen

940-1
Slimmer
Better edge retention
Axis Lock
Longer blade
