I had the Chinook 3 but finally sold it due to being very hard for me to open one handed without the Spydie drop. Recently I handled some Spydercos and opened very easily with one hand. Are ALL 3 Chinooks equally difficult to open one handed without using either the Drop technique of the twisty tie?\

THanks.

I have all 3 versions and wouldnt say any are hard to open using the spydie hole. You can loosen the pivot screws to make them a little looser but I have never had to do that with any Spyderco knife.

Thanks for your input. I might not be explaining what I mean very well. What I was trying to do with the Chinook 3 I used to have was what I recently was able to do with zero problems with the Resiliance I looked at. I opened it by putting

Sorry. The post went out before I was finished. I was saying I put my thumb in the thumb hole then with a flick/turn of the wrist the blade is deployed quickly and easily. Basically same motions as if I was using thumb studs. No Spydie drop or ties to do this with. I can also open my back lock blade I have with thumb studs as easily as I do with my liner locks.
Is this what you meant? Was I just doing it wrong? If so I would like to some day get a Chinook again.

Thanks much.

Flicking a liner lock open is usually going to be easier than a back lock just due to the design.

Very true, in fact just about any of the other locks Spyderco uses are going to be easier to flick open than a back lock, and the Chinook series and original C95 and C101 Manixes are probably going to be among the least flickable of their back locks.
