I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a Chinook 3. I heard this is an awesome knife but I'm worried about the backlock. I heard that the backlock of the Manix had some problems and I was wondering whether the Chinook3 has the same problems. If there have been previous posts on this topic please direct me to them, thanks.

If you consider being extremely strong and reliable problematic, then yes, the Chinook and Manix would have the same "problems" with their lock.

I have had a Chinook for a couple of years. It was once my EDC. It is a great knife. It is very robust and the blade shape lends itself to many practical as well as tactical applications. it is a bit heavy but reassuringly so. the lockup is superb and there is no blade play. the only potential issue may be that the lockback does not have a indented cut out like that on the 4th generation enduras and others. however, the lock up is super tight and there is little chance of accidental disengagement of the lock.
