Anybody know which online stores are carrying this right now, so that wifey can purchase one (or two) for lil old knife knut me?

Also, anyone purchased this baby already? how's it treatin' ya?

I believe the Chinook I and Chinook II have are the same part number. So it may be difficult to differentiate at first. Better buy from someone whoi knows the difference.

Sph3ric,

They've been advertizing the Chinook as the the Chinook II there for months. It looks like Bayou Lafourche received some final run Chinooks in S30V and possibly assumed they were the new model.

Still, it is better to phone and/or email ahead and verify that the store has the model you want and what they're willing to do in case they screwed up and sent you the wrong knife.

Oh, so they don't have the new one in stock? Bummer. I must have thought it was new because it looks like they rearranged the listing of the Spydercos.

I emailed Roger @ knifeworks.com about a week ago concerning the Chinook II. He didn't have any in yet and he is well aware of the difference between the original and the new version. Shoot him an email, they may be in by now. Always great customer service from Roger

Chinook II's are shipping regularly, but only in small amounts daily.

I will say that, IMO, the James Keating Chinook II is the best performing lockback on the market, production or custom, period!

I also think this model, designed in America and made in America from American steel has earned the right to be called an American folding Bowie knife (rather than the traditional "folding hunter").

Our "in house" hunter (an absolute hunting junkie) said the new Chinook is the best skinning knife he's ever used.

Something tells me Sal would not have written that if he didn't wholeheartedly believe it.
I look forward to holding my own James Keating Chinook II American Folding Bowie.

I like that.
The All American.

I don't think I've ever seen Sal so pumped about a knife..I am definitely looking forward to picking one up in the near future.

:D Hey, Sal, that post from you even got me interested. I have followed this Forum ever since it first appeareed in BF.Com and I cannot remember ever seeing a statement quite like that from you. Now, I'll have to look into getting a Chinook II.

It's hard to appreciate the chinook II and all that sal's saying about it...until you've actually held it in your hands. I got the chance to do so at the NYC custom knife show in november, and I have to agree with him. EVERYTHING about it is simply PERFECT.

How's the steel? PERFECT

How's the weight? PERFECT

How's the lock? PERFECT

How's the.. PERFECT

The fact that everything about it is 100% USA makes it...well, you know what I was gonna say. ;)
