Wish Spyderco would make a non-auto version of that knife. Or at the very least, that blade shape.
 
Vanguard41xx that is a beautiful knife. Is that the 92mm or 83mm version? I have my eye on the 83mm version at the moment and just came across this thread.

Interesting. I had one of these (the larger size) and got rid of it within a week because I did not like the blade shape. It seemed very conflicted to me. Generally I see swedges on knives intended for piercing, but the tip has a blunt nose that seems to hinder this endeavor.

Of the autos I have handled in this price range, it was one of the more stout designs. It was a knife that I REALLY wanted to like, but just didn't. Nothing wrong with it...just a personal preference thing.

I think it is designed to lessen the chance of a broken tip, much like the design change from Endura/Delica 3 to 4.

I am sure you are right. And perhaps the swedge is for weight savings (it is a fairly heavy knife even with the swedge).
