Does anybody own one and what do you think of it? I just received mine and it's wicked. Is the locking mechanism MBC rated? Thanks for reading my forum!

IF WAR IS HELL, TAKE A BETTER PITCHFORK THAN THE DEVIL-

I don't think it's an MBC rated knife, but it's a knife meant as a last ditch self defence weapon. I've been itching to get one myself.

I remember reading the Matriarch article before -- a great story and a very good example of how to talk to police. :)

Just what is the deal with the Matriarch/Civilian tip? It curves more than the tip of a normal hawkbill and it's very thin.

I know there's a very well-thought-out reason for that, but what is it?

I've been told the tip is made to pull whatever you are cutting into the blade farther, kinda like the talons on a hawk.
I have the Matriarch and I know I'd hate to be on the recieving end of a slash from it. Ron

The tuffram with rubber insert handles. Its really nice and wicked looking. A friend said "Just looking at it make you leak (blood). The thing about it is the civilian is that is has no real ancillary use. It's a self defense blade period. I have had mine for over 5 years and never had to sharpen it as I have never needed to cut anyone. I have since quit carrying it and carry a police model as a utility/defense knife.

The matriarch may be a little more utilitarian. One thing for certain the civilian doesn't live up to its name, it should be called uncivilian. The blade profile justs conjures up horrible imagery.
