I have a couple of very wicked looking spydercos that most closely resemble the "sc-12gs civilian" but with some distinct differences.

1. It has gray anodized aluminum scales (not G-10)with square textured rubber inserts. It has the same rubber covering on the clip (both sides).

2.The blade is G-2 stainless instead of VG-10

Also a Spyderco "police" with a G-2 blade (not ATS-55) and grayish scales that are not stainless nor do I think they are aluminum. The knife has 5 visible stainless round head rivits holding it together that are much more silver and shiney than the scales. Did they make a titainium police model? If so when?

Are these just an older version or some special edition offering??

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks

That is the old Civilian version (pre-G10) with a GIN-1 (G2) blade.

If in mint condition, valuable as a collector's item. Otherwise just one heck of a scary cutting tool. I have one that was carried a LOT, and is still rock-solid.

This is the extent of my limited knowledge on this subject. Feel free to correct me :)

Just my CAN$0.02 :D

You have the original production version of the Civilian.

The base metal of the scales is aluminum with a coating of TufRam (proprietary name). Spyderco later discontinued use of TufRam for quality control reasons.

G-2 and Gingami-1 are one and the same steel.

And yes, with the original papers and case, it is somewhat of a collectors item.
