Who did it better?

In my opinion the Civilian is easier to carry in the pocket. However, I do love the modified Emerson style thumb ramp that deploys the knife automatically when drawing it from your pocket on the Talon. The Talon feels more secure in hand due to the handle design and the texture has more non slip grip.

Some side to side blade play with the Civilian and ZERO blade play with the Black Talon. Perfect centering on the Black Talon and this Civilian is badly off center. This could be different for others.

Absolutely love both companies and their knives, just thought it would be cool to discuss.

Thoughts, pictures or experiences are welcome!

For what it’s worth, I regularly carry the Spyderco Matriarch 2 bc I love it!!!

Hard to make a choice, both are great blades. I would give a slight nod to the Cold Steel, as its my preferred brand. But, I own Spydies too! Black Talon would get the "edge" in the strength department. As for the efficacy of the serrations, they seem pretty well matched. The Talon's blade is more robust too! The Spydie would win-out, in ergonomics. I wouldn't feel under-knifed; carrying either one of these blades.

I never jumped for either one, yet I’ve always liked the reverse s blade.
Maybe I need a matriarch ? Hmm

I would go with the civilian out of these two options.
The handle on the talon just looks uncomfortable.

The Cold Steel is by far the more sturdy and functional for hard use or even normal utility use .

The Civilian is much more fragile and comes with many restrictions on usage .

The Cold Steel is also a much better bargain for the materials and strength of the build .

The Tri-ad lock is the best in the business for any hard use / SD . Just a fact , IMO .:thumbsup::thumbsup:
