I'm a tad confused, after looking at the stickies, so I'll just ask- I just picked up a Tuffram Civve from a member here, and I would like a wave and T/U conversion. A crescent (around the lanyard hole) foldover clip, or (preferred) mill cuts for a wire-pocket clip.

Are you still working wave mods, pricing on the package...? Please and thank you, neighbor!;)

I've got a Waved Civilian from STR, works way better than it should and scary as heck!

That said, it's a G10 model and was already set-up for tip or tip down carry. The later G10 models were like that IIRC

I'm a little lost too because I don't know the knife. To my knowledge I've never seen it so I'd need first to see it. Then I'd know more on if it can be Waved, if its a custom or production or not and so on.

The fold over too. I really don't know until I see it.

It also helps to know what its made of if I have to drill and thread it for new holes and stuff like that.

On the Wave. If this is a custom I'm not going to go there. I know a lot of folks disagree with my opinion on this but Ernest was quite clear when I gained his blessings for doing Wave mods. He pointed out it was for production knives and not customs including my own so bottom line is I'm not Waving any custom folders. I can explain more if you need me to and I will just ask.

On the mention of a crescent around the lanyard hole I'm really lost. Not sure what you are asking me for there at all really. Let me know and we'll go from there. The price on a clip is $30, Waves are $30 shipping is $4.80 for priority more if insured or signed for and pay pal fees are 4% added to the total. Thanks

:D I know, but I had one of the first Civvies to come out, and foolishly traded it off. I've been watching for one ever since, and the G-10s just didn't have the same feel.

Whoops! Simultaneous posting...
Here's a link to what I just purchased, third one down. Essentially anodized aluminum scales. Having looked at your forum more fully, the clip is your low-rider; if possible I like the mill cuts for the new wire clip, but the low-pro in a very non-descript color would be perfect.

I don't do wire clips so thats out. I wouldn't want to try to mill the handles on that particular folder.

Now on the Wave. No problem. Been there done that. However, it will void the warranty and any collector value you place on the folder. I've never seen that folder personally so it seems like it must be a rare one. You may want to think about the Wave part.

The clip is something I can do without permanently modifying the folder and using the existing clip mount. I can't get that color when I anodize but I may be able to come up with something.

I'm no collector, at least not in the artistic sense.;) As someone else has sig'ed: "function creeping all over form..."

A gray, light blue or green clip (or plain ol' brushed or matte) is fine.

Just to make sure we're on the same page: I do want tip-up carry- if that can be done with the existing holes, cool, but new holes don't bother me, and I have "filler" screws on hand.

I'll complete an order form, and get it on the way when I receive it.

Ok just list out the details of how you want it what you want and once printed mail it and the knife off. I'll do the rest in the order its received.

Thanks

Not meaning to hijack the thread but would it be possible to make a framelock Civilian out of a factory one?

No sir. Thats a lock back folder. Not enough "meat" left on the tang to do any sort of liner or frame lock on one of those.

Thanks for asking. For future reference though I do prefer new threads for new topics. ;)

I seem to be good at cross-posting...

You should be able to get a comression mechanism in there, I believe...

That would basically be redesigning the knife though- dunno who would be interested in tackling that for less than you could buy one of their custom folders...:)

Given the design orientation of the Civilian, a frame lock would not be adviseable (for rotating cuts, RGEO).

My only other potential mod is a Boye detent. It's been 15 years since I handled a Civilian, though, so I want to grope it some, before deciding on that...

Guess I'll say, when introduced, the Civilian was pretty much King of the Hill, but with some of the newer tech available, I wish there would be a re-issue, in something other than the flexi G-10 ...bleh!
