Hi there I Bought my mother a spyderco clipit with a bottle opener and was doing some maintenance for her, ewnt to open the blade and snap, something broke inside the knife, the blade had no tension it in so was very dangerous, how can i fix this.

Have any photo?
Sounds bizarre, but my only guess is the little leafspring came out or its notch in the spacer somehow broke.

Has the knife ever been disassembled?

You can't or maybe shouldn't fix it yourself. That's needs to go back to Spyderco. Also, to me this is not a quality control issue. As sad as it is, things break and sometimes it's ours...

Is it this one??

yes that one, gonna take it apart and see, is there anything that could have popped out of a hole

Hi patrick,
We apologize for the inconvenience. We would certainly prefer it if you sent that in for our review. We haven't had reports of any issues with that model. You can find all of the information you need to send it in here, http://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/index.php?item=10.

You'll be in good hands with our W&R crew.

Hi Patrick,
Could you please send me an e-mail at khunter @ spyderco.com (remove spaces of course). Please detail for me what maitenance you were performing and what happened.

Thank you!

Kristi

Patrick, I also have a knife to send from UK to the US, so would be interested in how you get on. I just lost the argument in the Post Office, the wifey there claimed any folding knife counts as a weapon as can't be posted. I've raise this with both Post Office and Royal Mail, but not yet heard their definitive answer.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this and I do not want to thread jack this, but since tazkristi is here I will bring it to attention. I found that on my Clipitool I can cut myself with the blade in the closed position. The end of the blade is so close to the end of the handle when closed I cut the webbing of my hand when clipping it into my pocket. Just wanted to put it out their.
