Spyderco Club

When you aquire a Spyderco knife you have joined the club.It is also lifetime, you can't resign,Spydie bites are permanent.

Now all we need is a secret handshake, a decoder ring/knife, and a bumper sticker that says: 2B1BUY1 or some such nonsense.

There is also the Spyderco collectors club. You sign up with Spyderco. You get a numbered version of every new knife they produce. i was going to until I found out that it would cost between $1000 and $2000 a year.

I don't think I would join any organization that would consider having me as a member!

If I remember correctly, the first 200 knives of each model go to the collector club members. This would mean that there could only be 200 members in the club, hence the steep price and long wait to join. But then again, I might not remember correctly and someone more knowledgeable should probably answer.

You are correct. However, I don't think they ever hit 200. If you search for "collector's club" you'll find a few threads that mention how many slots are available.

I called Spyderco a few months ago, got a bit of a run-around, and found that no one was assigned to administer the club. IIRC, Sal posted and said that they were evaluating how to handle the club.

BTW, the official collector's knife is always the serrated version, if there is one. If the collector also wants a plain or combo edge, it is marked with the serial number, and V for variant.

Just to confirm and adjust..shootist is mostly right..however the rules that I know of, say you must purchase one of every product not just knives. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will hit me upside the hide with a Spyderco Club and announce the date and time of the occurance on the forums.

Correctamundo Danelle.

I was asking about it a few weeks ago. IIRC, paperwork at office, you must but one of each product, SKU#'s determine products, from a dealer NOT direct from Spyderco.

Hope this is correct and not too far off. Will check tomorrow and post correctly if wrong.

There are a few slots left, don't know how many. We do have someone handling the club now...there was a switch in the "who".

(Got your Email Knifeslinger. Thought I had answerred you last month. sorry. I'll get another Email to you)

The requirement is to purchase one of each new model that comes out. Yes, the first one is usually serrated and "Variants" are also available.

We have in the past made a large number of new models in one year, but I think that $1,000 -$2,000 is a bit high. We are scheduling about 5 new items per year.

Yes they have to be purchased through a dealer. we haven't yet decided if SFO can/should carry them.

I have seen these collectiontions go for as much as $10,000, but they had a lot of models.

The advantages are that you are assured of getting at least one of each model, they are all the same number and they are the first 200 from the first run (meaning they are probably not perfect).

We don't push the club, just make it available for those interested.

Hi Danelle. Hope things are going well for you.
