Okay, I finally got my contract into Alex at Spyderco to join the Spyderco Collector's Program. But I have a few questions for those out there who are members of it. I want to know if there is any kind of newsletter for those in the program or how Spyderco goes about informing the members of new releases or such. Also, I would like to know how often you recieve knives if you have chosen all variations. Please let me know asap. Thanks!(#29)

Well, I don't know how much you know about Spyderco, but they have a collector's program. There is not a waiting list at this time that I am aware of to get a collector #. However, you can join the program by talking to Alex Hearn at Spyderco. You have to find a dealer to go through unless you are one that has a relationship already with the company but what happens is you sign a contractual agreement. Basically, the contract states you will use such and such dealer to purchase your spyderco knives with your collector # engraved on the blade which is your # until you default or give it up by contacting the dealer and spyderco that you wish to discontinue purchasing them. You can choose all variations or no variations which means that any new knife produced by Spyderco you purchase at the dealer's agreed price for the knife. I believe there are 000 - 200 on the # list though only a few #s are available otherwise you wait on a waiting list for one to come available. My understanding is you get first crack at the new releases per say or rather what knives are coming out even special promotional knives or what not. I'm still waiting for clarification on some of this because I just joined myself and have not recieved any knives as of yet. But I hope to very soon. I'm sure there are many others here who can answer your ? better than I so just keep checking this thread. Let me know if you join!

How DOES the program work? I just aquired a numbered Scorpius and a numbered black Dodo off Ebay, and this got me curious.

Hey, I just noticed another person requested information for this program. Well, I will say this I am officially #29 on the Spyderco 'hitlist'. *Woo Woo* I'm just waiting on knives now. Okay, the program was set up long before I started collecting spyderco knives, however, I know there are some available #s right now from talking to Alex at Spyderco. What you have to do is email Alex or call Spyderco and ask for her. She will email you a sample contract, so you can take a look at it and see what it entails. Basically, you sign an agreement with Spyderco to recieve spyderco knives through a spyderco dealer. The price for each knife is an agreement between you and that dealer, as well as, the shipping cost. Anyhow, I joined by talking to Jim Fox at Fox Firearms whom Alex suggested to go through as a dealer for my knives. At the time, I signed up for the program (finding a dealer & and sending in a real contract agreement) I was assigned #29 because it was available again which means any knife that spyderco produces from now on is engraved with that # on it and shipped to me through my dealer. You cannot get any pass spydercos already made from before your agreement unless the dealer you happen to go through had the old collector and may have a few still with that # on them. What happens if there is no collector for a # I believe they are sent out with the regular stock to the dealers. On ebay, I've seen some collectors as well as dealers who are selling some of the collector's knives. Well, I know this is a lot of info to digest. So I would recommend that you contact Alex if you are interested in this program and she can tell you more. This is her email addy avalerius@spyderco.com <avalerius@spyderco.com>. Let me know if you sign up!
